An Open Passover Seder

This year, Beseder Gallery opens its Passover Seder to everyone for the first time - to religious and secular participants alike, Jews and non-Jews, adults and children. This is neither a reconstruction of tradition nor an “introduction from the outside”, but a shared living experience of the ritual, in which everyone can be a participant rather than a spectator.
Passover is an action driven by storytelling.
Not a lecture, and not someone else’s memory. It is a living act that unfolds here and now - at the table, among voices, questions, pauses, and impatience. We set out on a journey.
On this evening, there are no outside observers at the table. Each participant, in a sense, leaves Egypt themselves - leaving constriction, habit, and unfreedom behind. In their own way, at their own pace, with their own questions. We follow the same path, encounter shared obstacles and trials, yet each experiences them differently.
Passover is a festival of freedom. Not loud or abstract freedom, but inner freedom. It is structured as a journey: from bitterness to hope, from silence to words, from solitary knowledge to a shared story.
It is no coincidence that the evening begins with children’s questions.
Because without a question, there is no attempt to find an answer.
The search for an answer gives rise to dialogue.
Without dialogue, there is no sense of “togetherness”.
And without that sense, shared memory cannot emerge.

The Seder will be led by the charismatic Prague rabbi David Maxa, leader of the progressive Jewish community of Et Chayim. His style - warm, attentive and open - allows the tradition to sound understandable and at the same time, without losing depth.
The evening will combine a traditional Seder and a festive dinner, games and workshops for children, conversations for adults and lively sharing at one table. The story of the Exodus will unfold not only in the text, but also in the taste of matzos, in gestures, in the pauses between words.
The Seder will take place in Czech, English and Russian.
Each participant will receive a Haggadah - a book in which the program of the Seder and the story of the Exodus are recorded - in the language of their choice.
Passover does not speed up or "go away".
Passover is experienced - together.
